Although the Star Wars franchise has been thriving since the arrival of Disney+, with hit series like The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi becoming some of the biggest shows on the platform, its big screen presence has been languishing since the release of The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. While there were originally some plans in place for new movie releases from Lucasfilm, it seems that for the immediate future, the last hope has been wiped from Disney’s upcoming release calendar. The Patty Jenkins-directed Rogue Squadron was the only movie on Lucasfilm’s release schedule, even though the movie itself seemed to have already been removed from their production slate last year, so while the news is not a huge surprise, it does seem like a final nail in the Rogue Squadron coffin.
