The ship has sailed when it comes to bringing back Robert Englund for another movie as Freddy Krueger, but the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise could still live on with a new actor in the role. After Jackie Earle Haley took over the role of Freddy for the reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street in 2010, the franchise has since been dormant, though Englund reprised the role for a special appearance on The Goldbergs in 2018. The actor hasn’t gotten any younger since, and the 75-year-old now says he just cannot physically play the dream demon any longer.
