Chris Pratt brings something new to the voice of Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, but it could have been another actor from the film doing a more traditional take on the role. Most often voiced in the video games by veteran voice actor Charles Martinet, the Mario character was portrayed by Pratt in the new film. While the decision sparked some controversy ahead of the movie’s release, filmgoers were ultimately left satisfied by the portrayal for the most part, given the immense box office success and high audience scores for the film.
