The gears are turning on a live-action Bambi movie at Disney, as a director is getting locked down for the project. Deadline reports that Sarah Polley, who won an Oscar this year for her Women Talking screenplay, is now in talks to direct the Bambi remake. Disney previously addressed plans to give Bambi the live-action treatment, and it would seem that the project is finally making some traction with these new plans to place Polley in the director’s chair. Back in 2020, it was reported that Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer would be co-writing the screenplay, but given the passage of time and the ongoing writers strike, it’s unclear if they’re still on board.
