Tribeca Awardee Hugo Ruiz Captured Darkness in One Night With Adela

Hugo Ruiz’s One Night With Adela made waves at the Tribeca Film Festival, ensconced in the Midnight section. This enigmatic Spanish film, a feature debut for Ruiz, swept the festival, winning the Best New Narrative Director Award, a title previously held by the likes of Michelle Garza Cervera for Huesera. It’s a noteworthy achievement for a film that seemingly appeared out of nowhere, taking the festival by storm. Produced by Muertos de Envidia Company and FTFCam, the movie unravels the haunting and twisted tale of Adela, a night sweeper harboring deep emotional scars, who is consumed by vengeance against those she believes have wronged her.
