Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan has explained why the film did not show the horrific destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki that was caused by the atomic bombs. While Nolan’s lengthy, three-hour historical drama does depict the Trinity test, the first detonation of the bomb in the New Mexico desert, Oppenheimer does not show the devastating destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki that occurred as a result of the atomic bombs being dropped on Japan.
