Studios are going to continue to bet big on horror in 2025, with sequels to big movies like Five Nights at Freddy’s, M3GAN, and The Black Phone coming to ramp up the frights and box office takings. The genre has always been lucrative because budgets tend to be on the lower side and the fanbase is known to show up, even if some of the titles are lacking. In the case of horror next year, Universal Pictures will be focusing on sequels to some of their biggest horror titles along with original content to compete with Sony Pictures going all out on follow-ups to their well-established horror IPS.
