Inside Out 2’s vaunted emotions arrive just in time to provide some much-needed relief for the summertime blues. Its no secret that the 2024 summer movie season has been a bit of a disappointment financially, but Disney and Pixars latest animated adventure finally broke through during its debut to produce the highest-grossing opening domestically of the year at the box office. The No. 1 movie over the weekend, which stars Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith and Tony Hale, made an estimated $155 million (per The Numbers). That far surpasses the original Inside Out’s (2015) $90.4 million opening.
