Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman has offered a hugely exciting update regarding the development of the long-awaited sequel, I Am Legend 2, and has confirmed Will Smiths fate in the post-apocalyptic action follow-up. Speaking during the “Producers on Producing” panel hosted by Collider at San Diego Comic-Con, Goldsman revealed that I Am Legend 2 will indeed take the alternate ending of the first movie, in which Smiths character Dr. Robert Neville survives his run-in with the mutants that have taken over the Earth, as canon.
