Deadpool & Wolverine features a never-ending tidal wave of cameo appearances from beloved Marvel characters, many of whom spent their past screentime under Fox’s X-Men banner. However, one character who doesn’t appear in the film is the X-Men’s iconic mentor, Charles Xavier. The character has been played by two actors on the big screen. Patrick Stewart first brought Professor X to life in 2000 release of X-Men, later handing over the reins to James McAvoy in 2011’s X-Men: First Class. The pair came face to face in the 2014 movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past. Fans were expecting a version of Professor X to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, especially considering the film’s main villain, Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin), is his evil twin sister. But James McAvoy has set the record straight about why he did not appear.
