Since adapting Hillbilly Elegy in 2020, director Ron Howard is seemingly distancing himself from author and Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance. The critically-panned film earned some Oscar nominations, but its legacy has gotten even messier with the emergence of Vance as a more-than-divisive political figure.
