A lot of familiar faces showed up in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but one major character didn’t make the cut. Early on in the film, it’s revealed that Jeffrey Jones’ character Charles Deetz was attacked and killed by a shark, but instead of showing a bloody version of it in live action, the scene was filmed using stop-motion. Oddly enough, that type of death makes sense in the wacky world of Beetlejuice, and it was always planned that way, according to writer Miles Millar.
