James McAvoy, who stars in the remake of Speak No Evil, has defended the notion of Hollywood studios remaking foreign films in the English-language. McAvoy’s Speak No Evil is based on the Danish movie of the same name, released only two years prior, in 2022. When the new version was announced, audiences were extra cynical about the latest retelling because of the short amount of time between both versions. But, McAvoy believes that there isn’t a problem with studios remaking foreign movies, as he hopes it will encourage audiences to go back and watch the original version.
