Wicked might be tearing up theaters this holiday season, but if you ask director Jon M.Chu about the movie, he’ll tell you that Elphaba’s trademark black hat was a bitch to shoot. Starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, Wicked is now the highest-grossing Broadway musical adaptation of all time in North America, earning more than $366 million thus far, smashing the record previously held by Grease. If its success continues, it could go on to take the top spot at the worldwide box office away from 2012’s Les Misérables, which took in $442 million dollars.
