Sometimes it’s difficult to get into movies that tap into real-life circumstances, because real life can be so much stranger than fiction. This year we went through one of the most contentious elections in history with Donald Trump proving victorious over Vice President Kamala Harris to become President of the United States once again. It was all very divisive and sparked a lot of controversy, so what better way to escape that with 2016’s The Purge: Election Year? The 2016 horror film, much like the entire franchise, does touch on current events in a pretty unique way, with the third installment probably doing it the most. This makes it the perfect time to dive in again, and thankfully, streaming will make it that much easier to do so!
