Mufasa: The Lion King clawed its way past Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in a tightly contested race and won the No. 1 spot at the box office to kick off the first weekend of 2025. Director Barry Jenkins’ animated adventure made an estimated $23.8 million (per The Numbers) and claimed the top spot for the second consecutive weekend.
