Once upon a time, Universal was prepping its own Avengers-style cinematic universe featuring their famous classic movie monsters. The studio started making some movies as they planned films that would make up the Dark Universe, and initially positioned Dracula Untold(2014) with star Luke Evans as the first film before officially making Tom Cruise’s The Mummy the Iron Man of the Dark Universe. There was a magazine cover featuring an A-list cast who would be headlining films like Bride of Frankensteinand The Invisible Man. But then The Mummy opened in June 2017 and it bombed. Badly. And the brakes were hit on the Dark Universe. However, now it’s a streaming hit on Hulu, sitting at number six on the streamer’s Top 10 chart.
