One legend of cinema paid tribute to another on Sunday night as Morgan Freeman took to the stage at the Oscars and paid tribute to Gene Hackman. Having starred together in Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven, there could be no one better to deliver the kind of tribute that Hackman deserved. The speech was made ahead of the Academy’s in memoriam section, which also featured tributes to James Earl Jones, Maggie Smith, David Lynch, and the many other stars that have been lost in the last year.
