Russell Crowe Could Have Appeared in Scrapped ‘Gladiator 2’ Cameo

Before the release of Gladiator II, there was much talk of Russell Crowe’s possible inclusion in the sequel. It seems that at one point there was a scene written into an early draft of the script that would have included a “brief flashback” of Crowe’s Maximus, but it didn’t make it into the final script.
