Amanda Seyfried, the actor known for her work in films like Mamma Mia!, Mean Girls and Mank, has revealed that she was originally offered a major part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe…but she turned it down. During the casting process for James Gunn’s 2014 superhero comedy Guardians of the Galaxy, Seyfried won the part of the feared intergalactic warrior and daughter of Thanos, Gamora. However, she didn’t think the Marvel outing would be successful (even thinking it would be the franchise’s first flop) and rejected the offer. Of course, Guardians of the Galaxy ultimately made over $773 million at the box office, and kick-started one of the MCU’s most beloved trilogies.
