With almost every live-action Resident Evil adaptation up to this point (save for Johannes Roberts’ 2021 film Welcome to Raccoon City), the story of the film or television show has shifted dramatically from that of the game. Mainstays from the video games, such as Chris and Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Leon Kennedy, and many others, have, one way or another, fallen to the wayside. Things like the Netflix series or Paul W.S. Anderson’s films have taken plenty of creative liberties.
