What in the po-ta-toes? Could it be true that someone other than Sean Astin could have played the part of Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings trilogy? According to ’80s heartthrob Corey Feldman, the answer is a resounding “yes!” Astin took on the role of Frodo’s faithful friend in 2001’s The Fellowship of the Rings, and it’s a part he’d play for the next three years until the saga’s conclusion in The Return of the King. However, if you believe what Feldman has to say, things could have looked a lot different.
