In the wake of A Minecraft Movie‘s record-breaking opening weekend, another classic video game of the early 2010s is returning to the big screen as Angry Birds 3 has a new release date, a new studio, and a new cast…with some returning favorites. Released in 2009, Angry Birds was a mobile game that took the world by storm and became one of the most downloaded games in history. Two feature films were made to capitalize on the phenomenon: 2016’s The Angry Birds Movie and 2019’s The Angry Birds Movie 2. The franchise will return to the big screen eight years after the last film and almost twenty years after the game’s launch.
