Christopher Landon, the director of modern horror gems like Happy Death Day and Freaky, has become one of the most interesting directors in the genre nowadays. That is probably the reason why he was selected to direct the Arachnophobia remake, which was announced in 2022 and was set to be produced by James Wan and Steven Spielberg through Atomic Monster and Amblin Partners. However, Landon exited the project after completing the script, and, according to his account, it was due to creative differences over the direction of the movie.
