Fans enthusiastically flocked to theaters over the highest-grossing Memorial Day weekend of all time to witness both Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, which combined to create their own Barbenheimer-esque event at the box office: Stitch Possible! However, much like the head-to-head match-up between Barbie ($162 million)and Oppenheimer ($82.5 million) over their own opening weekend in July 2023, there was a clear winner here, too, and it was Disney beating out Tom Cruise’s latest on-screen shenanigans as IMF agent Ethan Hunt.
