Superman will introduce a whole host of new heroes and villains to the DCU. Some of them, like Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl, Edi Garthegi’s Mr. Terrific, and David Corenswet’s titular Man of Steel, feature incredible costumes, hairstyling, and wardrobe design. But one of the film’s most powerful heroes has been the target of backlash from some fans. Nathan Fillion will play Guy Gardner, one of Earth’s Green Lanterns, in Superman. Unlike Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), who are seen as more sensible and stoic characters, Gardner airs a little bit more on the rebellious and silly side, and has the haircut to prove it. Gardner’s bowl cut has been at the center of some controversy, and Fillion is defending the goofy hairdo in the new film.
